You are just so absolutely lovely, do you know that?

I hope all is well with you and your kids.

They are luckier than most families, with two parents.

Hang in there my friend,

I was looking for a fun idea for soccer snacks & rolled across this post. Let me say "I LOVED IT!" That was well written & my favorite part was the end when you & the kids had that wonderful time together just you 3. And I bet that was the best $40 snack you ever spent!

laying down the LAW. don't let them no-good wranglers ride roughshod over your territory. :)
It's really weird reading this--I can totally remember being in similar situations as a kid and how unfair it all felt at the time...but now I can also 100% see your side of it and that you're right. The fact that I don't just think you're a big meanie-pants makes me feel old.

Beautiful site! I'm so glad you visited me... and led me here.

You asked great questions. Let's keep the private/public dialogue going. I'm fascinated by it all, especially as our world becomes less and less private.

Courage. You have courage and strength. It takes courage and strength to step out like that and offer unsolicited support. It takes courage and strength to tell your own story. Thanks for sharing with her and here.

This brought tears for your son. I also had that hero worship for my father who left when I was four or five. I waited for years for that backpacking trip we were going to take, and that trip to Disneyland he promised me in post cards. Though I didn't see him that often when I was young and was let down many times, I never dropped that need for him.

When I was a teenager I went to live with him and we finally got to know each other. I was lucky that he was a good person. He wasn't the best father, and even today I wished he was more of one -- its hard to live up to being a hero. But I am very grateful that we had and have a relationship. I didn't have anyone else in my life that I felt I could put on that pedestal, even though I had a step-dad who was caring. Maybe I was saving that space for my dad.

I found your page because I was looking for some snack ideas for my daughters soccer game. I am a first time soccer mom this year and not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing. I read your post and I just wanted to tell you that was really touched by it. Wonderfully written and painfully honest. Thank you for sharing your beautiful heart.

Wow! I remember your haircut!! I didn't know how it came about, though...funny how things affect us individually.

I've been reading all your blogs and am so so moved by your writing. One moment I'm laughing out loud, the next moment tears are streaming down my cheeks...

Give the kiddos a huge squeeze and a kiss for me - and please give yourself one too! (Although, that may be more difficult!) I miss you all already and can't wait to have you down in San Diego again for more lazy beach days...
